As Christians we are commanded
: Go ye therefore, and teach [make disciples] all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost
: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. (Matthew 28
: 19-20) Jesus promised to empower us to complete that task
: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you
: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria , and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1
: 8)
As far as I know, not one verse in the Bible exempts any of us from this command. However, while no individual is exempt, neither can one individual do it all by themselves. It takes a team effort. Every Christian is to par – tic – i - pate in the task. Some are called to go and preach but all of us can help support those God has called for the special ministry of proclaiming the Gospel. Working together, we can pray for our missionaries, give to meet the personal and ministry needs of our missionaries, and encourage our missionaries through notes and letters.
Our goal this year is not monetary. Our goal is 100% par – tic – i – pat – ion! Someone once said
: “I am only one; but I am one. I cannot do much, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do; and what I ought to do, but the grace of God, I will do.” Your participation may be limited, but if you participate, think what your effort combined with everyone else’s effort can accomplish.
